What S’wipe Is (for R&D)

S’Wipe is a single-sample stool collection system engineered to address the most persistent challenges in microbiome and metabolomics research: participant compliance, sample adequacy, and operational complexity.

Unlike traditional collection methods that require participants to navigate complex multi-step procedures, S’Wipe enables complete sample collection in a single bathroom visit.

Single collection

point eliminates multi-day coordination challenges

Validated method

 for metabolomics/SCFA analysis

Standardized protocol

ensures consistency across sites and populations

Regular mail shipment

eliminates cold chain complications

Convenient

Maintains chain-of-custody and meets clinical trial regulatory requirements

Why Gut Health Matters

Your gut is home to trillions of microbes that support digestion, regulate immunity, and influence mood and energy.

When the balance is disrupted, it can affect everything from nutrient absorption to inflammation.

By tracking gut metabolites, you gain a clear picture of your microbiome’s activity and its impact on overall well-being.

How S’Wipe Works

In just three simple steps, you can collect your sample at home and send it to our certified lab. No tubes, no scooping — just wipe.

Kit Distribution

Each participant receives a complete S'Wipe collection kit containing the collection pad, seal pouch, prepaid return mailer (if applicable), and illustrated quick-start guide.

Sample Collection

Participants complete collection after their next bowel movement using the provided S'Wipe pad. The sample is immediately sealed in the provided pouch and prepared for return shipment. No refrigeration, freezing, or special handling required.

Laboratory Processing

Samples can be shipped directly to the laboratory via standard carrier services. Chain-of-custody documentation tracks each sample from collection through analysis. Quantitative metabolomics results are typically delivered within 1-2 weeks of receipt by laboratory.

What You Get

With S’Wipe, you don’t just get numbers — you get a clear, easy-to-read report and actionable guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should we choose traditional scooping over S'Wipe?
The screening protocol can be used to identify participants with constipation, insufficient visible material on toilet paper, or fewer than 3 bowel movements per week. For these cases, traditional collection methods may be required to ensure adequate sample volume for analysis.
No. The method is designed for research coordinator use and no personally identifiable information needs to be collected, stored, or transmitted for the sampling process.
Yes, with research coordinator oversight. The protocol applies across all age groups. For participants with cognitive impairments or very young children, coordinators should use clinical judgment and consider assisted ot traditional collection methods when in doubt.
S’Wipe is designed as a research collection device and meets requirements for investigational use in clinical research settings. Specific regulatory requirements depend on study type, jurisdiction, and institutional review board guidelines.
S’Wipe samples are compatible with standard metabolomics and SCFA analysis protocols. Our laboratory processes samples using validated quantitative methods with established quality control procedures. We can provide complete analysis services or coordinate with your preferred laboratory.
Minimal training is required. We provide coordinator training materials and support for study-specific requirements.
The laboratory validates sample adequacy when processing. Inadequate samples are flagged, allowing for recollection using alternative methods if study protocols permit.
Research collaborators receive quantitative metabolite concentrations, quality control metrics, and analysis parameters. Both raw and processed data will be delivered in standard formats compatible with statistical analysis software, along with method validation documentation for regulatory submissions.
